the forest awakes..

this is a design Ive been battling with for a bit recently. the idea is that he is the embodiment of the woods and so can control it. he is the underlying sinister tone in my green hollow story. hes not necessarily a bad guy but he will do whatever it takes to protect his forest.

real world project: happy trails

recently been working on illustrations to put in woodland trails for kids. the idea is there are forestry commissioners who tell the kids were to go and so they go off and look for the animals in trees, undergrowth etc. its just something for kids to enjoy and learn at the same time :) the following is the idea progressing from the folkloric stuff (which i dropped) to the woodland critters

well the project is plodding along nicely at the moment, here are some water colour paintings of a forester and some patrons of the old fox hole pub enjoy :)

here are the concepts for the foresters, they live on the outskirts of the village collecting pelts,wood,food etc for the village i have an idea to put them in a diorama which will contain their camp and other needed equipment.

Dredd is back!

on Friday i had the pleasure of seeing Dredd 3D. and i can safely say what a film. for those judge Dredd fans out there you wont be disappointed, there plenty of guns,guts,blood and law giving all at the end of a lawgiver. to celebrate the film i decided to do a sketch of Dredd himself enjoy, drokk you creeps!

well finally got the ball rolling with this project, took me a while to upload some of the illustrations but I'm getting there. there are still plenty more to do over the year to come. i have some special things planned for winter :) but for the moment here are some of the many characters of green hollow enjoy

concerning the hamlet of Green Hollow

well Ive been sketching and doodling ideas for a project and have finally got an idea I'm really excited about. it concerns the hamlet of green hollow, a small community united under growing vegetables and getting drunk at the ol fox hole on a Saturday night. a quintessential idyllic hamlet however the people who live in this hamlet are some what different to normal people. their only 10 inces tall. this project is a evolution of my old project which was entitled "concerning the other folk". i have decided to create 20 characters each named, sketched, sculpted and photographed in a real woodland with buildings to scale. this project will be done over a year and i intend to create the hamlet by the end of the year and have it on show. its a tall order but i look forward to starting. once my scanner is working again ill put up the first designs. watch this space
